*New Kochi* - 100% Accessibility for Differently Abled, Aged and Sick

Almost all the countries in the world implemented, accessibilities for the differently abled, the sick and the aged. In India, Parliament passed the disability act in 1995, for the implementation of the accessibilities for differently abled, the sick and the aged in our country. Unfortunately it has not been implemented properly in our country. In this situation, Prathyasha Foundation has taken this project as a major project for our future activities. Of all the cities in India, we have selected one city as a sample city to implement the accessibility for the differently abled, the sick and the aged. The city is “Kochi” in Kerala.

The project *New Kochi* is the dream of Mr. Simon George, Chairman & Managing Trustee, Prathyasha Foundation to bring 100% accessibility for the differently abled, the sick and the aged in the entire city of Kochi. The initiative of the project was started on December 15, 2009 the day on which Prathyasha Foundation conducted the 9th premarital meet for the differently abled to choose their life partners by placing an Aluminum ramp at the main entrance of the E. M. S. Memorial Town Hall, Kochi belonging to Kochi Corporation. The inauguration of the ramp was done by Prof. Mercy Williams, Worshipful Mayor, Kochi. The project is to be implemented on turn key basis for a year and within a year the complete city of Kochi would be differently abled, the sick and the aged accessible city. This will be a role model for the entire country.
