Prathyasha foundation conducted a community marriage of 18 disabled couples on 3rd december 2006 at Ernakulam town hall at 10 am.This was the 2nd community marriage of its kind. About 1000 people witnessed this unique event.The married couples belonged to different religions(Hindu,Christian,Muslim)and all disabled classes. Sri.S.Sharma, state minister for fisheries department,blessed the couples and spoke to the audience.The marriage were conducted in the presence of Mr.Uzhavoor Vijayan,the chairman,corporation for disabled and other distinguished guests;Mr.vishwanadhan,the managing director of best bakers,presented gifts to the married couples.Mr.Simon George ,the managing trustee of Prathyasha foundation distributed sewing machine to the couples.That was sponsored by world malayalee council.All press & visual media covered the event. |
